Marlena T. Alford was raised in Saratoga Springs, NY and is currently residing in Albany, NY with her husband and one daughter who recently graduated from SUNY Buffalo State. Marlena obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, and a Master’s Degree Operations Management. She lived in New York City for approximately 15 years, working at NYC Parks and Recreation and NYC Dept. for the Aging. After leaving NYC she returned back to Upstate NY in 1997, and purchased her first two rental properties in Albany.
Marlena managed and maintained a total of 5 rental properties located in Albany and Saratoga Springs over the next 25 years while working full time with New York State. Marlena also got married in 2005 and build her first home in 2007. After retiring from NYS in 2014, Marlena obtained her NYS Real Estate License in 2017 and is currently a member of working as a Real Estate Agent with Home USA Real Estate Services. Marlena has over 22 years Government Service with the City of New York and the State of New York.
Her work experience has given her a wide range of knowledge in Accounting, Finance, Budgeting, Project Management, Human Resource Mgmt, Research, Private & Federal Grants Management, Contracts Administration, Internal Controls, Procurement, Inventory Control, Accounts Payables, Payroll and Real Estate. Marlena has been a member of the Greater Capital Association of Realtors (GCAR) since 2017 and has transacted a number for real estate deals for buyers and sellers in the Capital District area.
She is also a long-standing member of Metropolitan Baptist Church in Albany. She has volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America for approximately 4 years writing grant proposals. In addition to Real Estate work, Marlena loves traveling. Her travels around the world include Spain, Italy, France, Germany, Iceland and Africa where she visited Senegal and Ghana. Other hobbies include interior decorating, landscaping, bicycling, and living a healthy lifestyle by working out on a regular basis.
