About Me

As a seasoned realtor with 18 years of experience, I live in the lovely tree-carpeted town of Chapel Hill. I am a historic preservationist who volunteers for Preservation Chapel Hill and belongs to Preservation North Carolina, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and other conservation groups.
Trained as a journalist, I am a meticulous researcher and a tireless advocate on behalf of my clients. It was while working as a reporter 18 years ago for the Los Angeles Times that I became interested in real estate, beginning with a dilapidated 1913 Craftsman bungalow that I bought and restored to its former glory. I became friends with my realtor and started imagining a career that combined my interests in helping people, housing, architecture, and preservation.
I was one of those people who kept going to open houses every Sunday, even after I bought a house. After earning my real estate license in 2005 I began helping people find the homes that matched their dreams. I have worked extensively with first-time buyers, sellers, people relocating from other areas, investors, and nonprofit housing groups. I have also owned homes and investment properties in California, Colorado, Illinois, and North Carolina.
As a former reporter with an eye for detail, I have a thorough understanding of every piece of the home-buying and selling process, from working with lenders and inspectors to attorneys and title companies. I make sure to carefully explain each step to my clients. A top producer for many years, I have also earned my CRS (Council of Residential Specialists) designation, awarded to only 3% of realtors. Since buying or selling a home is such a major decision, it’s particularly important to choose an experienced CRS agent who has completed advanced training and demonstrated “outstanding professional achievement” in residential real estate.
I have a bachelor’s degree with high honors in history from Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT, and a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University in New York, NY. As a Los Angeles Times reporter, I was part of a team that won the Pulitzer Prize in 2004 for coverage of the Southern California wildfires.
In my free time, I enjoy playing with my two young kids, reading the newspaper, painting, and visiting historic homes.
