About Me
A native Texan, Charla has enjoyed a well-traveled lifestyle. She grew up in the Austin/San Antonio area and always explored the outdoors and countryside. As a child, she spent time in Leakey with her great grandparents, swimming in the Frio River with her brother and sister. She loved reptiles…particularly Horney Toads, Frogs, Toads, and Tortoises, and would always be looking to find a new pet. Charla grew up raising ponies, horses, dogs, and cats. She also had pet Spanish Goats, bunnies, chicks, doves, fish, and even a pet crawfish.
Charla moved to Florida in the late 1970s and loved the beach and water. She learned to scuba dive and enjoyed fishing. Charla traveled aboard a 54′ sailboat with friends for several months cruising the Florida Keys and Bahamas. She settled in Fort Lauderdale, where she started working on large power yachts. She landed a job as a chef on a boat traveling to America’s Cup Race in Rhode Island in 1983. Charla spent years cooking aboard various yachts and traveled the Eastern Seaboard, Caribbean, Yucatan, and Gulf Coast.
Charla settled in Destin, Florida, with her husband and daughter in 1988. She started an Artwear company by first painting fish on tee shirts. The shirts became popular, and she started a company called C C Confetti. Her new clothing line was all hand dyed and hand painted, and the garments were sold all over the US and Caribbean.
In 1993 Charla and her daughter returned to Texas to be near family and bought a catering business. She catered to offices, brides, Realtors, and many other groups of local businesses. She operated three large banquet facilities in San Antonio simultaneously for several years.
Currently, Charla is a REALTOR® and a painter. She enjoys painting several subjects, especially colorful sea life. Now she has time to enjoy her interests and travel to America’s beautiful places.
